Taxonomy
Asteriospongia anatrope was named by Rigby (1977). It is not extant. Its type locality is GSC 89831 sec 3. Between Hall Beach runway & shore, Melville Peninsula, which is in an Edenian/Maysvillian carbonate shale/limestone in the Amadjuak Formation of Canada. It is the type species of Asteriospongia.
