Janipes nymphaeobates
Taxonomy
Janipes nymphaeobates was named by Rasmussen et al. (1987). Its type specimen is CGM 42839, a limb element (distal end of left tarsometatarsus), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Quarry M (Jebel Qatrani Formation), which is in a Rupelian fluvial sandstone in the Jebel Qatrani Formation of Egypt. It is the type species of Janipes.
