Taxonomy
Zygites elegans was named by Yin and Yochelson (1983). Its type specimen is GQ81047 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Yinshanpo KC260a, Qingyan, which is in a Pelsonian/Illyrian marine shale/marl in the Qingyan Formation of China.
