Taxonomy
Milesia quadrata was named by Scudder (1878). Its type specimen is 14691, an exoskeleton (fine state of preservation), and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Petrified fish cut (Richardson Coll), which is in a Bridgerian lacustrine - large diatomite/shale in the Green River Formation of Wyoming.
It was recombined as Asarcina quadrata by Hull (1945); it was recombined as Asarkina quadrata by Evenhuis (1994).
