Taxonomy

Tachinidae was named by Robineau-Desvoidy (1830). It is extant. Its type is Tachina.

It was assigned to Diptera by Scudder (1878); and to Oestroidea by Wiegmann et al. (2011).

Synonyms

Thryptocera media was named by Meunier (1905). It is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Zanzibar Copal (Kunow collection), which is in a Holocene terrestrial amber in Tanzania.

It was considered a nomen dubium by O'Hara and Cerretti (2016).
Myobia multiciliata was named by Meunier (1905). It is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Madasgacar Copal (Evers collection), which is in a Holocene terrestrial amber in Madagascar.

It was considered a nomen dubium by Evenhuis (1994) and O'Hara and Cerretti (2016).
