Eugnamptus was named by Schoenherr (1839). It is extant. It is the type genus of Eugnamptina.
It was assigned to Rhynchitidae by Scudder (1878) and Scudder (1890); to Eugnamptina by Bouchard et al. (2011); and to Eugnamptini by Legalov (2015).
