Nyaya was named by Rozova (1963) [Sepkoski's age data: O Trem-l Sepkoski's reference number: 618]. It is not extant. Its type is Nyaya nyaensis.
It was assigned to Ptychopariida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Hystricuridae by Jell and Adrain (2002) and Adrain et al. (2003).
