Casamiquelia was named by Bonaparte (1990). Its type is Casamiquelia rionegrina. It is the type genus of Casamiquelidae.
It was assigned to Symmetrodonta by Bonaparte (1990); to Casamiquelidae by Bonaparte (2002); and to Brandoniidae by Kielan-Jaworowska et al. (2004).
