Taxonomy
Tapashanites costatus was named by Zhao et al. (1978). Its type specimen is NIGP 34317 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Meishan Section, Baoqing Mb Bed 2, which is in a Changhsingian carbonate limestone in the Changxing Formation of China.
