Iassus was named by Fabricius (1803). It is extant. It is the type genus of Jassidae, Iassinae, Iassini.
It was assigned to Ryngota by Fabricius (1803); to Jassidae by Scudder (1890); to Iassinae by Dietrich et al. (2017); and to Iassini by Krishnankutty et al. (2016) and Borodin and Borodina (2021).
