Parasolenopleura was named by Westergard (1953) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm mMid-l Cm uMid-u Sepkoski's reference number: 81,378]. Its type is Calymene aculeata.

It was synonymized subjectively with Solenopleurina by Jell and Adrain (2002).

It was assigned to Solenopleurinae by Bruton and Harper (2000); to Ptychopariida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Solenopleuridae by Landing et al. (2008).
