Taxonomy
Chonetes alata was named by Stuckenberg (1898).

It was recombined as Paeckelmannia alata by Cooper (1957); it was recombined as Lissochonetes alatus by Bamber and Waterhouse (1971); it was recombined as Tschernovia alata by Kalashnikov (1993).
