Caloda delevoryana was named by Dilcher and Kovach (1986). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is IU 15706-4605 and is a compression fossil. Its type locality is IU15706, which is in a Cenomanian terrestrial claystone in the Dakota Formation of Kansas. It is the type species of Caloda.
