Fusulina verbeeki was named by Geinitz and Marek (1876).

It was recombined as Schwagerina verbeeki by Roemer (1880); it was recombined as Schwagerina (Moellerina) verbeeki by Fliegel (1901); it was recombined as Verbeekina verbeeki by Ueno and Sakagami (1993), Davydov (1996), Huang et al. (2009), Kobayashi (2011) and Kobayashi (2011).
