Taxonomy
Toweius petalosus was named by Ellis and Lohman (1973). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Tombigbee River below Demopolis Rooster Bridge [Clayton Fm], which is in a Danian marine horizon in the Clayton Formation of Alabama.
