Dipteronotus ornatus
Taxonomy
Dipteronotus ornatus was named by Bürgin (1992). Its type specimen is PIMUZ T.94, a partial skeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Point 902, Monte San Giorgio, unspecified bed, which is in an Illyrian/Fassanian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal dolomite/shale in the Besano Formation of Switzerland.
It was recombined as Stoppania ornata by Burgin (1992) and Lombardo et al. (2008).
