Pseudokingstonia was named by Palmer (1965) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Fran-l Sepkoski's reference number: 697]. It is not extant. Its type is Pseudokingstonia exotica.

It was assigned to Cheilocephalidae by Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Ptychopariida by Sepkoski (2002).
