Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
G. Edmund and J. Theodor 1997A small pampathere, slightly larger than Vassallia minuta, but smaller than Kraglievichia paranensis. General features of skull resemble those of pampatheres. Anterior four upper teeth generally cylindrical. M4 elongate-ovate. Teeth M5 to M8 clearly bilobate, with emarginations on the medial side in all, also on the lingual side of some specimens; M9 varies, often reniform or egg shapped. Mandible relatively shallow dorsoventrally, elongate; ascending ramus broad anteroposteriorly. Lower dentition resembles upper. Skeletal elements almost identical with those of other pampatheres. Two facets of the astragalo-calcaneal articulation well separated. Osteoderms approximately the size of V.minuta; half are hexagonal in outline. Typical buckler osteoderm has small number of well-spaced follicular pits connected by distinct channel. Submarginal band continous, confluent posteriorly with elongate central figure.
