Pyttstrigis was named by Hohensee and Stitt (1989) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Fran-l Sepkoski's reference number: 887]. It is not extant. Its type is Pyttstrigis dicilia.

It was assigned to Idahoiidae by Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Trilobita by Sepkoski (2002).
