Hantzschel 1975Large horizontal segmented (“septate”) burrows, many of them of giant size; 3 to 13 cm (max) wide, 8 to 10 cm very common width; somewhat sinuous, large forms relatively straight; rather long (up to about 1 m); commonly crowded; associated with rounded pits of similar cross section; marginal welts 5 to 30 mm wide; curving “septal” ridges mostly remarkably equidistant; those of giant forms usually markedly crescentic, but size, shape, and spacing may vary considerably.
