Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
B. Kensley and J. Pether 1986Shell generally high-conical; length/width ratio range 80-93 per cent; sides very faintly convex; apex at or close to midpoint of antero-posterior line. Sculpture consisting of radiating flattened ribs of equal strength; under magnification, ribs seen to be built up of numerous concave growth lines, somewhat flattened, separated by shallow sharp groove. Number of ribs on circumference of large specimens ranging from 105 to 124. Shell margin finely and evenly serrate. Large shells often with several oval juvenile scars, up to nine per shell; scars usually 4-10 mm greatest diameter. Some shells bearing dark-brown radiating bands separated by narrow pale bands; dark rays more distinct closer to shell apex; near margin, dark bands coalescing to form continuous dark-brown band.
