Placopleurus besanensis
Taxonomy
Pholidophorus besanensis was named by Bassani (1886). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Besano (MCSN Milan collection), which is in an Illyrian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal dolomite/shale in the Besano Formation of Italy.
It was recombined as Placopleurus besanensis by Brough (1939) and Bürgin et al. (1991).
