Taxonomy
Thais arenae was named by Kensley and Pether (1986). Its type specimen is SAM-PQ-KN530, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Koingnaas 30m Complex, which is in a Pleistocene transition zone/lower shoreface horizon in South Africa.
