Sichuanolenus was named by Zhang et al. (1980) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Boto-u Sepkoski's reference number: 463]. It is not extant. Its type is Sichuanolenus nanjiangensis.
It was assigned to Ptychopariida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Estaingiidae by Jell and Adrain (2002).
