Taxonomy
Rhizotrogus longimanus was named by Heer (1847). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Oeningen (Carlsruhe collection), which is in a Sarmatian crater lake limestone in the Upper Freshwater-Molasse Formation of Germany.
