Taxonomy
Pristorhynchus ellipticus was named by Heer (1847). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Oeningen (von Seyfried collection), which is in a Sarmatian lacustrine - large limestone in the Upper Freshwater-Molasse Formation of Germany.
