Taxonomy
Diapherinus ornatipennis was named by Popov (1966). Its type specimen is PIN 1989/3438, a tegmen, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Baissa (PIN collection 1989), which is in an Aptian lacustrine - large siltstone/marl in the Zaza Formation of the Russian Federation. It is the type species of Diapherinus.
