Eoptychoptera altaica
Taxonomy
Proptychoptera altaica was named by Kalugina (1988). Its type specimen is PIN 3791/4809, an exoskeleton (male fly missing head & legs), and it is an impression. Its type locality is Bakhar, outcrop 208/3 (PIN collection 3791), which is in a Bajocian/Bathonian lacustrine claystone in the Bakhar Formation of Mongolia.
It was recombined as Eoptychoptera altaica by Lukashevich et al. (1998) and Lukashevich and Arillo (2016).
