Wilcoxaspis was named by Westrop (1986) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Trep-u Sepkoski's reference number: 625,697]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Ptychaspididae by Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Ptychopariida by Sepkoski (2002).
