Taxonomy
Graphiurus callopterus was named by Kner (1866). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Raibl, Carinthia (Stur collection), which is in a Julian basinal (carbonate) limestone in Italy.
It was recombined as Graphiurichthys callopterus by White and Moy-Thomas (1937), Forey (1998) and Schultze (2004).
