Taxonomy
Ellia purbeckensis was named by Coram and Jarzembowski (1999). Its type specimen is MNEMG 1998.19a, b, a forewing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Durlston Bay, Bed DB175, Swanage (MNEMG collection), which is in a Berriasian lagoonal siliciclastic in the Durlston Formation of the United Kingdom.
