Bedicella was named by Hahn et al. (1990) [Sepkoski's age data: C Step-l P Sakm]. Its type is Bedicella cicatricosa.

It was assigned to Proetida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Cummingellinae by Owens (2003) and Lerosey-Aubril (2012).
