Taxonomy
Proetus (Bohemiproetus) was named by Pillet (1969) [Sepkoski's age data: D Sieg D Emsi-l Sepkoski's reference number: 933]. Its type is Proetus bohemicus.

It was Gerastos (Bohemiproetus) by Pillet (1927) and Šnajdr (1980); it was Coniproetus (Bohemiproetus) by Lutke (1990); it was synonymized subjectively with Coniproetus by Lieberman (1994); it was reranked as Bohemiproetus by Jell and Adrain (2002), Sepkoski (2002) and Van Viersen and Prescher (2008).

It was assigned to Proetus by Pillet (1969); to Gerastos by Pillet (1927) and Šnajdr (1980); to Coniproetus by Lutke (1990); to Proetidae by Jell and Adrain (2002); to Proetida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Proetinae by Van Viersen and Prescher (2008).
