Taxonomy
Phipoides elegans was named by Riek (1953). Its type specimen is AM F40144, a forewing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Warner's Bay, Belmont (AMF coll), which is in a Changhsingian pond chert in the Croudace Bay Formation of Australia.
