Taxonomy
Mycomya was named by Rondani (1856). It is extant. It is the type genus of Mycomyini.
It was assigned to Sciophilinae by Johannsen (1909) and Theobald (1937); to Mycetophilidae by Carpenter (1992); to Mycomyini by Blagoderov (2007); to Gnoristinae by Blagoderov (2019); and to Mycomyinae by Matile (1989) and Oliveira and Amorim (2021).
