Taxonomy
Evacanthus was named by Peletier and Serville (1825). It is extant. It is the type genus of Evacanthinae, Evacanthini.

It was assigned to Cicadellidae by Meunier (1914); and to Evacanthini by Dietrich et al. (2017), Dmitriev (2020) and Borodin and Borodina (2021).
