Frithjofia was named by Pribyl and Vanek (1978) [Sepkoski's age data: D Fame-l D Fame-u Sepkoski's reference number: 802]. It is not extant. Its type is Drevermannia (Formonia) annulilobata.
It was assigned to Proetida by Sepkoski (2002); to Proetidae by Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Drevermanniinae by Basse (2007).
