Bathyactis was named by Moseley (1881). It is extant.

It was synonymized subjectively with Fungiacyathus by Wells (1956); it was reranked as Fungiacyathus (Bathyactis) by Filkorn (1994).

It was assigned to Fungiacyathus by Filkorn (1994).
