Taxonomy
Hedstroemia was named by Pribyl and Vanek (1978) [Sepkoski's age data: S Ldov-u D Gedi Sepkoski's reference number: 933,1106]. Its type is Proetus delicatus.

It was assigned to Proetida by Sepkoski (2002); to Proetidae by Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Crassiproetinae by Zhou et al. (2000) and Stocker et al. (2019).
