Interproetus was named by Snajdr (1977) [Sepkoski's age data: S Wenl-l S Ludl]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Tropidocoryphidae by Jell and Adrain (2002); to Proetida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Cornuproetinae by Stocker et al. (2019) and Bault et al. (2021).
