Taxonomy
Lacunoporaspis was named by Elkin (1966) [Sepkoski's age data: S Ldov-u D Eife-l Sepkoski's reference number: 421,735]. It is not extant. Its type is Lacunoporaspis contermina. It is the type genus of Lacunoporaspinae.
It was reranked as Proetus (Lacunoporaspis) by Owens (1973).
It was assigned to Lacunoporaspinae by Pillet (1972) and Pillet (1973); to Proetus by Owens (1973); to Proetidae by Jell and Adrain (2002); to Proetida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Proetinae by Ivanova et al. (2009).
