Tettigometra was named by Latreille (1804). It is extant. It is the type genus of Tettigometrae, Tettigometrinae, Tettigometrini.
It was assigned to Fulgoridae by Heer (1853); and to Tettigometrini by Mozaffarian et al. (2018) and Borodin and Borodina (2021).
