Phyllaspis was named by Richter (1863) [Sepkoski's age data: D Sieg D Emsi-u Sepkoski's reference number: 421,1106]. It is not extant. Its type is Phyllaspis raniceps.
It was assigned to Tropidocoryphinae by Chlupac (1994); to Proetida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Proetidae by Jell and Adrain (2002).
