Radnoria was named by Wasmann (1894) [Sepkoski's age data: S Wenl Sepkoski's reference number: 528]. Its type is Radnoria syrphetodes.

It was assigned to Brachymetopinae by Owens and Hammann (1990); to Brachymetopidae by Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Proetida by Sepkoski (2002).
