Schizoproetina was named by Maksimova (1977) [Sepkoski's age data: D Gedi D Emsi-u Sepkoski's reference number: 421,1106]. It is not extant. Its type is Schizoproetus borealis.

It was assigned to Proetinae by Zhou et al. (2000); to Proetidae by Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Proetida by Sepkoski (2002).
