Taxonomy
Cretoxyla azari was named by Grimaldi and Cumming (2011). Its type specimen is MNHN Azar 391, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Lebanese amber, Mdeyrij-Hammana (LU collection), which is in a Barremian terrestrial amber in Lebanon. It is the type species of Cretoxyla.
