Tcherkesovia was named by Spassky (1989) [Sepkoski's age data: D Gedi Sepkoski's reference number: 1106]. It is not extant. Its type is Tcherkesovia prima.
It was assigned to Warburgellinae by Chlupac (1994); to Proetida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Proetidae by Jell and Adrain (2002).
