Taxonomy
Protimaspis costalis was named by Kinsey (1937). Its type specimen is ROM 39, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Cedar Lake (ROM collection), which is in a Campanian terrestrial amber in Canada.
