Taxonomy
Cymodocea floridana was named by Lumbert et al. (1984) [species assigned to den Hartog]. Its type specimen is no number listed, a leaf, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Gulf Hammock Quarry, which is in an Eocene shallow subtidal dolomite in the Avon Park Formation of Florida.
