Xiangzhongella was named by Liu (1987) [Sepkoski's age data: C l Sepkoski's reference number: ZR88]. It is not extant. Its type is Xiangzhongella xinshaoensis.
It was assigned to Proetida by Sepkoski (2002); to Proetidae by Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Cummingellinae by Lerosey-Aubril (2012).
